What made it worse, is when we tried to get this place to fix the cake, they started accusing us of ordering it wrong, saying no one could stretch any image to be the full length of the sheet cake. If we would have been told this from the beginning, we would have had Safeway print 4 side-by-side images together.
Love this place! It's one of the few remaining bakeries that still makes chocolate fudge frosting cakes. My absolute favorite type of cake! If you don't know this cake or have never had it, get it. The cake itself is standard chocolate covered with a "hard chocolate" frosting. After sitting in the fridge for a couple of hours, the frosting is as rich and textured as fudge. Amazing! Corner pieces are a must with three sides of pure frosting!!
Also, a great place to run in and get last minute party supplies. They have candles, lighters, cake servers, plates, and forks. As well as a good selection of drinks and snacks.
Get your cake anywhere else but here.
Good place for a dessert that's not overwhelmingly sweet. Probably better to get there first thing in the morning for the fresher products. Silk good though at the end of the day.
You'll find other old-fashioned pastries as if time stood still. Lemon meringue pies, homemade apple danishes, and cupcakes decorated like they used to. Haven't had a pastry that I didn't like here.
The banana creme pie was good. But, the reason I score this place so low is the customer service. The older man helping my fiance and I was a jerk. They ignored us at first when we were clearly ready to order, when he finally did say something to us, all he said was "What did you want" and then our total. We said thank you upon receiving our pie and he didn't even respond to that. Not coming back here.
This place ruined our Marine Corps Birthday Ball cake and refused to fix the situation or offer the refund. The customer service was appalling. The fact that the place looked dirty from the outside and on the inside should have been our first clue. We preordered a printed image of eagle globe and anchor with a happy birthday under it and were told that the image provided would be ok to stretch the entire sheet across. When the cake was picked up, instead of a large image, there was a puny emblem with some weird, bloody colored border around it. So awful, thankfully, the Modern hotel fixed it by refrosting it.
This place has been here forever. Great service but product selection have decreased. Stop going there for a couple months now. Used to love this place as a kid as well as a young adult but sad to see it decline.
Anyway.... Rude people... Bad service, lots of miscommunication and finger pointing.
