Our dear friend (old Japanese woman in her late 70's) took her car into this Sears for one tire that had been damaged on the sidewall. They told her they could NOT sell her 1 or 2 or even 3 tires that she would have to replace all 4 tires. Come on, even Costco will replace 2 tires at a time. By the time this nice old woman walked out she had a bill of almost $1000.00 and just needed one tire replaced due to a nail in the sidewall, the rest of the tires all had less that 15k miles on them. When I called down there and talked to "Kirby" I told him that they took advantage of this naive older woman and threatened to call his boss his reply was...."Go ahead who do you think taught us how to upsell". He didn't even deny that he had taken advantage of her. That is so sad that a name like Sears has such revolting and deliberately deceitful people working for them. There was nothing we could do but write this in google and warn everyone DO NOT go to sears for any auto work and especially AVOID "KIRBY'" or it will COST YOU BIG. Be sure to read on to all the 1-Star reviews on this page, many people have had the same shady experience with this Sears. There's a reason this Sears Tire has a 2 star rating. Shame you you.
Brought my van in for brake service. Appointment and service were timely but the new brakes were very squeaky immediately after driving the van away. Figured it would resolve itself. When it continued, brought the van back twice, once during an oil change, once specifically to look at the brakes again. They told me nothing was wrong and I would have to deal with it. Finally brought the van to another shop who told me that the issue was poor quality brake pads. New brake pads installed on front. Problem solved. Never going to Sears again.
Extremely unprofessional and unreliable. Even after an appointmeny and showing up on time, they're late. After being told everything is ready, you still end up waiting at the front you get for 30 minutes because there's no staff in sight. And then on top of this they try to tell you there are problems when none exist.
We took our car in about a month ago because our car died and it was a Saturday (our regular mechanic wasn't open until Monday). Sears told us we needed a whole new exhaust manifold and it would cost $1500. Yikes! We had it towed home to have our usual mechanic look at it Monday. It was the O2 sensor on the exhaust manifold that was having issues. $70 fix + $130 tow home saved us $1300. How do you mix something like this up? They also recommended other work that didn't need to be done. They also did an oil change before doing a diagnosis on what else was wrong so when we decided to tow it home they charged us the diagnostic fee (which was a misdiagnosis anyway) and an oil change. We've come to Sears other times in a bind and their prices have always been outrageous but all of this was even more frustrating. So grateful for other capable and honest mechanics on the island.
Were very helpful and courteous! Provided excellent service on my oil change and were able to fit me in when I needed. I am pretty skeptical about where I take my car to have service done, but I have no regrets with these guys!
