You may want to bring something to sit on, some drinks (not too many as you need to walk a ways back to the restroom) and camera.
Beautiful and well maintained grounds. Completely free to visit and partake. A nice lake in the center of the property is home to a large flock of ducks. If you have little ones or just enjoy ducks, make sure to bring something to feed to them! Crowds were not large for the Friday afternoon we visited. Interpretive signs aplenty describing the foliage and trees. Maintained restrooms, a picnic pavilion, and benches galore make this a hands down place to recommend if you’re looking to enjoy the beauty of nature.
Love love love this place as soon as I enter I feel as if I've been placed in another world. A peacefulness immediately comes through my being. Loads of Flora throughout with identifying markers. Great place to walk on smooth asphalt and yet still see as much as on a rugged trail in the rain forest.
Beautiful scenery! A hidden gem that's easy to get to from the H3. Take the kiddos to catch and release fish on the weekends. All you need is bread for bait, some good walking shoes, sun screen and bug spray and you can borrow fishing poles at the visitors center.
The beauty of the Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden cannot be put into words. It is definitely something that you have to see for yourself, because although photos are beautiful they just don't do it justice. We drove through the whole area first and then on our way back through we parked at a few parking lots along the way to get out and walk around to see what you can't see while driving through in your car! Definitely don't miss coming here while on Oahu!
We camp here at Ho'omaluhia back in architecture school to test out our temporary housing design. Some of us flourished and some of us failed. But more importantly, we had some really good food. The Botanical Garden are beautiful. It has its own lake and camp site. Apply your camping permit at the Park Department.
