It was easy to find parking close to where the families had started to set up. There was a lot of open space for the kids to run around and play. Restroom was clean. Only a few trees so we had to bring tents or canopies. Water and showers were all located close to the restrooms only.
While driving the rental to the Polynesian Center we took the coastal highway and ended up sitting here a few minutes and taking it in. I remember saying to my wife that these mountains looked like something from the King Kong Movie. Little did I know it was actually Jurassic Park LOL. Back to the Park and Beach. Both are FREE, Clean and quiet. Small strip of sand for your toes also. Take a picnic basket and go sit for awhile. Worth the hour drive from the tourists in Waikiki and nice 1/2 day get away.
This is such a nice place to camp. You have to reserve campsites online two weeks in advance and they go fast. There are six sites at location A and you can get a permit for $32 for 3 nights. It's more shaded and has more trees than location B, which is basically a field. And the view can't be beat. Make sure you bring your bug spray!
Beautiful, unfortunately didn't allow time in our drive to stop for long. Was here in December so on cool side. Breezes probably make this a very pleasant summer activity launching point
The park is very spacious and has ample parking. The beach area however is very limited. The sand is not very smooth or suitable for walking on and the water is not ideal for swimming in. The restrooms here are newly renovated and relatively clean compared to restrooms at other public parks.
