Best place on the Island for authentic Hawaiian Food! Freshly pounded poi, freshly made Kulolo and delicious squid luau are my favorites. Sweet Lady of Waihole dessert of Kulolo with Haupia Ice Cream is worth a trip. Street parking on the side street and outdoor seating. If you eat there, they will bring the food to you.
Fast and good island food. Make sure you ask what you are ordering. Friendly staff. Thrilling parking adventure backing out onto a busy road. Bathroom was pretty gross.
Excellent authentic Hawaiian cuisine. You should try the poi and their coconut ice cream with warm Kalo (I think it was Kalo?)
Poi, from Taro, is a classic staple carbohydrate of the Hawaiian people, so had to try it. Classic way it’s made is pounded into a paste, and to be honest not bad but not my cup of tea I think. However the LauLau and Kahlua pork was so good here!
The place was recommended to us as a good place for authentic Hawaian cuisine. For me the food fell short. Maybe if I would have been offered the sauces for the pulled pork, my experience would have been better...but this was not offered to me. I saw the sauces after I finished my lunch. They were brought to another table by the same waitress who served us....So do not forget to ask for sauce for the pulled pork.
